The Siiiimpsooons

Love the new theme being used by that Wascally Wabbit! I had a Ned
Flanders box a long time ago, but I think the raccoons got him. It was
up in Vancouver, and it was called Neighbor to the North. I also have
to tell you guys that the guy who lives 4 doors down from me IS Ned
Flanders. He even has the mustache. He is remarkably cheerful and he
kinda gives me the willies. Hey, is there a Leftorium somewhere?
Maybe they would be willing to sponsor a new Ned box.

So, what would happen if the Simpsons went letterboxing? Probably Lisa
(my hero) would solve all the clues and get to F100 in one month. One
last thing I've gotta brag about - my friend Mimi wrote the first
episode of the Simpsons! (the one where they get Santa's Little Helper
from the race track). Okay, I better stop because I am revealing too
much about my low-brow tastes in TV show and probably embarrassing
myself.

Talk about low-brow taste in TV, we've got a friend who writes for
South Park; she even used to write for Saturday Night Live.
Honestly, I've never even seen an entire episode of SP but it's
interesting to actually know somebody involved in TV. ;)

On a different note, we just returned home from our 3 week 3,000
mile jaunt in and around CA, OR & WA and will post updates on
regional boxes shortly. Found many awesome boxes and weren't so
successful with a couple dozen of others--not sure if they were
boxes already 'known' to be missing or not. We'll contact planters
individually in a little bit.

If you have never watched South Park, then you cannot possibly know
what an intelligent show it is. Yes, there is stupidity in it. But
like The Simpsons, which is also a show with multiple layers of humor,
it also has some very sophisticated jokes as well. Just avoid anything
involving Mr. Hanky-- those episodes are too far....

Dangit. Now I want a South Park letterbox.....

But that brings me to a topic that's actually relevant.... I'm going
to plant some local boxes that are media-related (yeah, I shamelessly
stole the idea from the "know your audience" Star Wars example-- I
live in a town where movies get made, so why not?) I wonder though
about the cross-pollination between fandom and letterboxing. Is there
enough to make it worthwhile, or am I going to have a lot of
letterboxers wandering around going "why am I looking at this?" when
the fan would be squeeeing and saying things like "Oh my god, that's
exactly where Mike fell out of the tree! SQUEEEE!!!" [I swear to you,
"squee" is a word....]

If you haven't yet, check out, "Vertigo", "Shadow of a
Doubt" "Birds" and "American Graffiti" boxes-way cool!(If I do say
so myself & I do).
They take you to places in the films that make people go "squee"(me,
I usually go "whoa"!). The letterboxer would say, "cool another box
with a cool handcarved stamp" & the fan would be doubly stoked.
The Simpsons are my favs and Id prefer to carve something im
interested in (and my kids think the stamps are great-so that's
enough for me). Do what you want. If you carve it, they will come.

I haven't watched South Park much myself, but I did see the one where
Robert Smith from the Cure was on the show (he was some kind of god who
came to save the world??) - that is pure genius. Plus, I also thought
Team America: World Police was hilarious - not a movie for everyone,
but I could not stop singing the theme song all week (unfortunately
it's R-rated and I cannot repeat it here)

Probably you'll get more clueless finders than ones who know EXACTLY
WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!! but it's nice to see someone's enthusiasm
about a topic. Plus, who knows, maybe we might actually learn
something along the way. I think I heard about a series of LBs up
north that feature fishing flies - not something that interests me in
the least, but I bet the hand carved images are super and I'd love to
have them in my book.

I have a Mr. Hanky doll; it was a gift. I put it on display at
Christmastime.

This calls for a Mr. Hanky letterbox! Brown ink of course!
